General information for all Breathe, Birth, Yoga classes

My sessions are always friendly and informal. I often use a theme, focusing on a topic such as, sleep, energy, back pain or active birthing, plus more.

I always aim to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere where everyone is supported and encouraged to ask questions and discuss different aspects of pregnancy, birth and babies. It’s a time to share and support one another. Participation is on your terms and you can add as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

I provide both private and semi-private yoga sessions in your home, as well as some group classes. If booking a private session I will be happy to work with small groups, at an additional cost. The beauty of such sessions is that I will tailor them specifically to your needs and they can be arranged to fit in with your busy schedule. My group classes offer the opportunity to connect and bond with other parents and babies, in a non-judgemental and friendly environment.

Sessions may include asana (positions), pranayama (breathing), chanting and guided relaxation, but will be guided by your requirements.

I will provide the props to use during the session, including a yoga mat. Please just ensure that you are dressed comfortably and can move around freely. It’s also a great idea to have some water to hand.

…Pregnancy Yoga

During our pregnancy yoga sessions, you will learn breathing techniques to assist you during your pregnancy and throughout your birth. You will practice some fantastic relaxation techniques to help you stay calm, positive and stress free. You will practice yoga poses (asanas) to help alleviate the general aches and pains associated with pregnancy, such as constipation, fatigue, aching lower back and pelvis, sciatica, leg cramps and swollen ankles. We will talk about optimal foetal positioning (OFP) and which asanas to try and which to avoid, to encourage your baby into the optimum position for birth. You will learn about the pelvic floor and how to strengthen these muscles using specific asanas to prevent weakening which can lead to conditions such as urinary stress incontinence.

Cost £45 per hour (private class)

Postnatal Yoga

Postnatal yoga can kick off the road to recovery following your birth. The aim of these sessions is that they are something for YOU! We can practice these sessions in your own home, so your baby can watch, play, sleep, feed at any point or even try an asana or two if they’re old enough! We will focus on all the areas new mums generally worry about. We will talk about and work on the pelvic floor, which is key to getting back into shape. For a while after birth and if you are breastfeeding your body will still have high levels of the hormone relaxin, this can cause aches and pains due to your joins being less stable. We will work on stabilising and strengthening your body.

You may have aches and pains from feeding, carrying and misalignment following the birth. I will tailor the sessions to your individual abilities at the time. As your strength increases, we will change the sessions to suit your changing needs. These sessions will be relaxing and rejuvenating, as well as transformational for your body.

Mother and baby yoga

A lovely happy session intended to intensify the bond between parent and baby.

Physically beneficial for the parent, as well as the baby, and wonderful to help calm, connect and relax together. These sessions will be a lot of fun for both of you, including an exciting sensory experience for your baby. You will learn some rhymes with actions, soothing touch for your baby and some yoga moves that will benefit you both.

Baby yoga is proven to help babies feel safe and secure and they respond positively to the power of touch and movement. It’s also fantastic for helping your baby sleep and to alleviate digestive issues

These sessions will be led by your baby. If they need to sleep, feed or need a cuddle then we will work around them. If sleeping, we will do some postnatal yoga without baby, until they wake.
